The working language of the program is English.

SFA sees itself as an event that aims to be equally accessible to all people.

If you have any specific preferences, dietary needs,

or face any health-related challenges,

please don't hesitate to contact us.

Please fill out our registration form and transfer the participation fee to our account. Once your registration is processed, we will confirm it by reaching out to you via e-mail.

Per mail you'll receive all necessary information.

Around 3 weeks before the event we will have a call with you and the other participants to clue up and answer your questions.

You will develop and produce a short film in a team,

related to the themes of identity, home, and origin.

The price includes:

_access to all workshops

_access to all events

_access to professional film equipment

_catering (three meals per day)

_accommodation @ Kühlhaus

The participation fee does not include the following:

_transportation to Görlitz

_issuing a visa (if required to come to Germany)

_international travel health insurance

_additional costs in a hotel / hostel or any offsite accommodations

When preparing for your stay, please ensure you bring everything you need to cover your personal requirements for a two-week period (clothes, towels, hygenic products, personal stuff,...). Since we're going to be outside a lot you should check the weather in advance and be prepared.

If you have chosen camping as your accommodation option please notice that you have to bring your own tent/camper and camping equipment!

We recommend to bring your bike, since there's a lake, beautiful nature and the city of Görlitz to explore near by.

As a socio-cultural creative location between Lake Berzdorf and the urban area of Görlitz/Zgorzelec, Kühlhaus suits our plans perfectly. Over the past decade, the former GDR supply depot has been developed by ambitious cultural workers from the region into a unique event and cultural venue.

In addition to various studio and seminar rooms and a large „machine hall“, there is a spacious campsite with a large meadow, as well as bungalows and studio houses. The double and single rooms that you can book are in the garage hostels. All available bathrooms are shared.

The next train station is "Görlitz - Weinhübel".

about us

The summer.film.academy is run by an exclusively volunteer team of filmmakers and filmlovers like you. Our interdisciplinary team ensures that the program is a success and all participants are well accompanied.

During the 2nd edition of SFA we founded Rashomon e.V. on

10th September 2022 in Görlitz. Since then we're acting in behalf of our non-profit organization and dreaming of many more events to come, additional to SFA.

We're grateful for the in-kind donations and receive funding from Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen, Lausitz Festival, Stiftung Kulturwerk, Kreatives Sachen, and the Stiftung für das Sorbische Volk.
