Here's what we did to calm the spirits.
 

The walk — a procession on foot, afternoon into evening — was a small registered group. From the eclipse onwards everything was open to all and free: the summit from around 18:30, then the concerts at the Naturresort Bieleboh, open-air with an indoor room for the weather.
 

The observation gathered at Parkplatz Bieleboh (Plus Code 3GJG+GM, Beiersdorf).
Eye protection was required; eclipse glasses were on site in limited number. Don't look back in anger, nor into the eclipse without protection.
 

We filmed the whole day as a single continuous take. 
Dress code was: RED.

The Swarm: Boltzmann Brains at Lake Fermi

The day opened at the flooded quarry. ANAA SERGEJ and JUNYING WU opened the water with The maze of a daydream — a roughly twenty-minute performance with gong, hydrophone and loudspeaker, making the sounds of the quarry water audible.
 ANDREJS POIKĀNS led a collective score of bird-exchange, after the Latvian Easter dance song Bagātais un nabagais (The Rich One and the Poor One), holding the exchange of value as a cosmological model. The collective OUTSIDEININSIDEOUT took part, among them YANG CHENG.

The Passage: Running Up That Hill

We set off on foot, up through the forest, about ninety minutes on existing paths. Drums set the pulse — the oldest instrument for this exact occasion. Choral voices carried the path, and WALBURGA WALDE intoned Sorbian legends along the way, leading into Deep Listening at the stops. Sorbian drag ANGEL VAN HELL showed a performance drawn from a spring rite. VOOR WINKLER took us on a transformative journey through body and mind. Two stops at sun sanctuaries — a forest clearing, and the Steinklunsen near Beiersdorf: granite, moss, a cave, someone's shelter.

FROM 18:30 · BIELEBOH SUMMIT, 499 M

Everyone gathered on the mountain. The Dresden women's choir femmes vocales, led by Sylke Zimpel, had already met the group partway up and sung there for the first time — a multi-part a-cappella cycle staggered along the route: archaic Estonian Tormis songs at the sanctuary, Slovenian songs of mountain and moonlit night on the ascent, a wordless solstice dance piece. At the summit, choir and WALBURGA WALDE sang on through the eclipse.

The Sun Has Been Eaten!
femmes vocales, the Dresden women's choir, sings. WALBURGA WALDE intones Sorbian songs. Eighty-five percent of the sun is gone, and the light goes wrong. It lasts a few minutes.

20:29 · SUNSET
Penumbra
The sun went down still eaten — the moon still in front of it as it dropped behind the horizon. Nothing came back that night. We walked down through half-shadow, the way we came.

As the last light drained off the hills, the day crossed into its final station — concerts under open sky, an indoor room held in reserve for the weather, the crowd from the walk settling into the dark together.
