The Future, wouldn´t that be nice?

Building on the strong foundation of previous editions, the Sommer.Film.Akademie is entering a new phase:
more international, more intertwined, more speculative.

We are currently preparing a series of future activities that will expand the Academy's scope and strengthen
its function as a hub for collaborative, practice-based film education across Europe and beyond.

2025 – Consolidation & Preparation
 

SFA25 will serve as a transitional edition, linking past formats with new, international structures.
A special focus will lie on Sorbian narratives, speculative knowledge, and the integration of
AI tools in participatory storytelling.

The K:I:NOCamp, a youth-oriented satellite programme, will continue in parallel – exploring cinema,
critical thinking and machine learning. Regional partnerships (e.g. with the DZA, CASUS, and Kühlhaus Görlitz)
will be deepened in preparation for the upcoming cycle.

SFA26 – Sonnenfinsternisakademie @ Nebelschütz & Görlitz
A two-week residency focused on origin myths, cosmologies, ecological narratives and cultural astronomy.

IGAL2 – Intergalactic Lusatia Festival (Görlitz)
A public showcase of films, installations, performances and lectures timed to the eclipse.

2026 – TRANS•EUROPE•ECLIPSE and The Lore of Ra (LORE)
 

A major highlight will be the total solar eclipse on 12 August 2026, visible in Lusatia.
This rare celestial event provides the setting for the launch of T•E•E, a transnational
​film education constellation co-organised by Rashomon e.V. and partners in
Greece, France, Poland, and potentially West/North Africa.

ROFL27 – Rashomonoia Film Lab (Athens)
A partner lab developed in Athens, focusing on collective memory, diaspora,
marginalized groups and urban transformation.
